Flu Vaccination Programme

 

Who is eligible to receive a free flu vaccine?

Practice Registered Patients in the following groups, will be offered a free flu vaccine in the GP surgery:

  • Patients aged 50 years and over
  • Patients with long term conditions such as:
    • a heart problem
    • diabetes
    • a learning disability
    • a kidney disease
    • a liver disease
    • COPD
    • Asthma (only if requires continuous or repeated use of inhaled or systematic steroids or previous exacerbations requiring hospital admission)
    • patients with BMI of 30 and above
    • lowered immunity due to disease or treatment
  • Pregnant women
  • Carers
  • Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
  • All children aged 2 and 3 years
  • Frontline health and social care workers

The flu vaccination programme has also be extended to patients aged 50 to 64 who are not in a clinically at-risk group.

School-aged children and young people will be offered the flu vaccine at school.

Flu clinics at Shrewsbury Road Surgery

We are running weekday flu clinics at the Surgery.

Please bear in mind that this is a busy clinic and you may have a short wait, make sure you wear loose clothing to make vaccinating easier.

How to book a Flu Clinic appointment:

  1. You can reply to one of our invite text messages
  2. You can call our reception team
  3. Ask the Practice staff member to book you an appointment when you are at the surgery

Please only book an appointment if you know you are eligible to receive a free flu vaccine. If you are not sure, please speak to our Practice Team members.
